Hi, I’m Marcus Thompson — the founder and lead reviewer at Automotive Tools Guide. I’m an ASE Master Certified mechanic with over two decades of hands-on experience working on everything from Japanese compacts to American muscle cars and European luxury imports.
My automotive journey started at 16 in my dad’s garage in Austin, Texas, rebuilding a tired 1987 Mustang GT. That project taught me two things: the right tools make all the difference, and bad tools cost you more in the long run. After earning my ASE certifications, I spent 12 years as a shop foreman at one of the largest dealership chains in the Southwest, overseeing a team of 15 technicians and managing over $200,000 in shop equipment.
